Mrs. Melissa Buchanan’s Youth Entrepreneur Class had a successful “Market Day” at WHS this past week. A nice variety of offerings, even an opportunity to do pull-ups and get a discount on your Pizza purchases. Everything from Mexican Food, to Walking Tacos, to Chicken Alfredo, to Cookies / Cakes and more were available to the staff and students during lunch. Many of the products moved quickly, all tables seemed to be having considerable success with their business endeavors.
“Market Day” is a big event for the entrepreneurs each semester. It all begins with planning, securing loans from local lenders, followed up by shopping, followed up by preparation and marketing, followed up by sales and hopefully success. Close tabs are kept on all phases of their projects so level of profitability can be determined afterwards. A real, hands-on event with many practical applications for the students that participate. Any profit made by each group was kept by the group members. If they ended up in the red, they are required to get with “the lenders” and work out a plan of resolution for any loan balance that remains. THE REAL STUFF – Great Job Crusaders!
