Sheriff Press Release – Car Chase February 4, 2020

On Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at 7:42am, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle report in the 800 block of South Chicaskia Road (South K49 HWY). Deputies arrived to check the property when a White Chevy Extended Cab pickup left the property eastbound through the field.

Deputies identified themselves and told the driver to stop; he refused initiating a vehicle pursuit. The driver drove through wheat and cotton fields trying to elude the deputies and other responding law enforcement units. The driver eventually wrecked his vehicle and left on foot. He was found after a search along the river and taken into custody.

The driver, Toby Glen Nelson, 41 years of age of Oxford was charged with Flee or Attempt to Elude, Possession of Stimulant, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Criminal Trespass and Criminal Damage to Property.

The Kansas Highway Patrol, Kansas Wildlife and Park Enforcement Division along with the Caldwell Police Department assisted with the Investigation.
