PRESS RELEASE – Body Found in Sumner County

On Sunday, at approximately 1:30pm, Sumner County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the area of 130th Ave and West Rd for a reported body in the water. When deputies arrived, they found a body in the water, west of the intersection. With the assistance of the Mulvane Fire Department and Derby Water Rescue Team, the body was recovered.

Right now, we cannot speculate how the person passed away or the sex of the person due to the general condition of the body. Due to the heat, the body has started to deteriorate and we do not want to make any speculations. Arrangements were made to have the body transported to the Wichita/Sedgwick County Forensic Center for an autopsy. Investigation is continuing.
