The Wellington Crusader boys and the Varsity girls traveled to SPARTAN country on Tuesday. The JV Girls and “C” Team Girls did not compete so only 4 games and not the usual 6 took place. The Varsity Ladies pulled out a victory but our boys continue to struggle on the basketball courts vs the Spartans, a struggle that has existed for many years now.
Head boys basketball coach Joe Newman, after the game shared his concerns. “We are sitting at 0-24 vs Collegiate all time. I believe this group (of Crusaders), is capable of ending that streak.” Coach went on to say, “I felt that we handled their press well, but still ended up with 19 turnovers. We rebounded much better than we did against Mulvane, but offensively we are still in a slump. We want to get over 60 field goal attempts and we haven’t broken 50 attempts in the last 2 games.”
