1-5 Crusaders vs 5-1 Vikings Coming To A Sellers Park Near You!

Don’t let the records fool you and Winfield won’t.

Friday is a huge night at Sellers Park. Coming off a road victory and their first victory of the season, the Crusaders downed Labette County 21-0, perhaps igniting a spark that can carry over until this Friday, when former WHS Head Football Coach Linn Hibbs brings his Vikings west.

This past week, the Crusaders created more offense, improved the defense, but still are battling way too many penalties. That must improve if 2 wins in a row will become the reality.

Kickoff is 7PM Friday but prior to that, at least two big events will occur. At 5:30PM, the 1969 Football Team and their families (celebrating 50th anniversary of 1st WHS State Football Championship in 1969) will be treated to a tail-gate bbq and gathering just outside the stadium, near the bridge. At halftime, the team will ascend to the field, where 50 years ago last month, these gentlemen began their 69 season journey towards the grand finale at WSU, downing Bonner Springs and bringing home the glory to our school, to our town – the 1st of 4 State Football Championships!

It’s also SENIOR NIGHT – Seniors involved in FALL SPORTS & RELATED ACTIVITIES, along with their parents will be honored prior to the kickoff!

Come out and support the entire evening – this is what living in a small town is all about – the past, the present, the future = “1” !!
