Elaine Clark's great-grandfather homesteaded, just one mile west of Mayfield, just one mile from Sherry's ancestor's homestead. (Small world!) Elaine and her husband Larry lived, farmed, and were active in the Mayfield community for several years. Elaine is a teacher, memoirs writer, past president of the Sumner County Historical and Genealogical Society, and writes a weekly educational column for the Wellington Daily News. Clark also keeps busy each summer and fall judging foods at Kansas county fairs, and the State Fair.
