Building for Eternity Mat 6:19-20

Churches split during building projects But look at the reasons they split- They always have todo with buildings, never core issues of eternity. ( We doll up our arguments in spiritual sounding terminology so we won’t sound so carnal but in the bottom analysis we got upset over some "thing" that didn’t suit us.)

Churches always split over things

The word for treasure used here is "thay-sow-ros'" It means to lay down a deposit another word that could have been used is "his'-tay-mee" it means to put up a deposit- Both words were common and Christ used this word specifically to indicate that you took your hands of of it- The difference was the difference between a Savings account and a long term CD one of them you fully expect to use in the near future the other one you walk away from it. Forget you even have it and let it draw interest.

Jesus is talking about - PRAYER - FORGIVENESS – FASTING – prior to this verse and THE WORRIES OF LIFE after this verse-

It is easy to fall in love with THINGS (Luke 21:34) "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unaware"

Treasure in the Ground- (Earth – is "ghay" in the dirt )

Treasures in Heaven means above the highest mountains- (In the Sky- LOOK UP OR LOOK DOWN

SPIRITUAL PRINCIPLE- Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. Always the truth what you treasure is in your heart- Your feelings are connected to what you truly treasure and the degree that you treasure something is the degree that your heart breaks when it is touched.

NOTICE HOW BADLY YOUR HEART ACHES WHEN A TREASURE IS TAKEN.

JOB- Satan came to God in Job on 3 levels

1) Job 1:10 " an hedge about him,his house, and all that he hath" ( FAMILY & POSSESIONS)

2) Job 2:5 "… bone and his flesh," (BODY & HEALTH ).

  1. Job 2:11 His friends saw him and were aghast- (HIS REPUTATION) Job 3:1 After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.- (Notice Job aways complained about his lack of repute)

What was Job Treasure- What others thought of Him!

SAUL 1 Sam 15

JUDAS wanted everyone to think he cared for the poor but instead he cared about money- John 12:6

DIO-TRO-PHES, who likes to put himself first 3 John 1:9
