The Key to your future Rev 1:18
When God answered Job in the whirlwind Job 38:17 Have the gates
of death been opened unto thee? or hast thou seen the doors of the shadow of
death?
Keys in the bible were often large insert-able handles that
were slid into the slot of a locked door.
In the OT (1 Chr 9:22) the gatekeepers held the key to the
gates of the temple area. (212 gate keepers that worked in shifts over 4
gates)
The Greek word translated key signifies authority or power. It
comes from a verb which signifies to shut, to shut up. Keys were to
close In fact in Revelation 11:6 the Greek word of "key" is Translated
"shut" Luke 13:25 Says there will be a day when the door is
locked-
I. THE KEYS OF HELL AND DEATH
- The keeper of the keys has the power to open and to shut, the word is
used in the New Testament to denote power and authority of various kinds.
- Hades Is a combination of 2 greek words "hah'-dace" Al-pha as a
negative participle- & i'-do (to see, or be sure) Hades is literally
the unseen place-
- The Hebrew mind set about death was separation not
annihilation. Like pebble thrown into a lake is unknown not
annihilated.
- As our representative he has gone into the kingdom of death and hell and
taken them captive.
- Eph 4:8 Therefore it is said, "When he ascended on high he made captivity
itself a captive;
2. KEYS TO THE KINGDOM
- Jesus told Peter he gave him the keys to the kingdom- the keys of the
empire of heaven …(18- and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.)
- When Peter confessed that Jesus was the Son of God,- Faith in cChrist
allowed peter to weld trhe Key to unlock heaven and loos Christ influenec on
the earth
3. THE KEY OF DAVID
- (Isa 22:22 KJV) And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his
shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none
shall open.
- (Rev 3:7 KJV) And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These
things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David,
he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
4. THE KEY OF KNOWLEDGE
- Hypocrisy Mat 23:13 "Woe to you, hypocrites! You shut the kingdom
of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those
enter who are trying to.
- Luke 11:52 "Woe to you experts in the law, because you have taken away the
key to knowledge."
On his Journey to the Celestial City Christian & faithful
were trapped in the dungeon of Despair, they were beaten mercilessly daily until
Christian found the key that would open the door, he was taught that it would
open any door. The Key was Faith (1 Pet 3:18 KJV) For Christ also hath
once suffered for sins…. that he might bring us to God, being put to death in
the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: (19) By which also he went and preached
unto the spirits in prison;"
